Cannabis

· Severity: Major

Alcohol

· Severity: Major

· Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication can cause serious side effects, such as central nervous system (CNS) depression, and can increase the risk of falling. Call emergency services right away if you experience symptoms of CNS depression: slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, trouble staying awake.

· Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid alcohol consumption while taking CNS depressants. Alcohol consumption may result in additive CNS depression.

Suvorexant 10mg, Oral tablet

Grapefruit juice

· Severity: Major

· Notes for Consumers: Avoid grapefruit juice and grapefruit while taking this medicine. Serious side effects such as slurred speech, confusion, excess drowsiness, severe weakness, or difficulty breathing may occur. Contact your care team right away if you have any of these side effects. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything that requires mental alertness after taking your nighttime dose of Suvorexant.

· Notes for Professionals: It is advisable to have patients avoid grapefruit juice and grapefruit during treatment with suvorexant due to an expected significant increase in lemborexant exposure and risk for side effects. Suvorexant is a CYP3A4 substrate; grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor.
