Quick-start Guide: Pricing Updates (including Multi-pharmacy Pricing)

Prescription pricing is far more volatile than most patients realize, and it’s particularly noticeable for those without insurance. Similar to how gas prices will often change daily (going both up & down on the same day at different gas stations in the same town), when filling prescriptions a patient might also experience high levels of volatility. Don’t be surprised to see different drug prices at many of your neighborhood pharmacies (while also witnessing rising prices at one store and falling prices for the exact same drug at another).

Save More With a Multi-stop Price-check. A Quick-start Guide, from “ScriptSave University”

We strongly encourage everyone to price-check their meds before every refill. This may seem like a lot of effort (especially if you fill multiple prescriptions), but the ScriptSave WellRx platform makes it easy … by saving your meds to your own FREE, PRIVATE, SECURE virtual Medicine Chest.

Not only does the Medicine Chest make it easy to re-check the prices of your meds at the click of a button, but it also allows you to see if it’s cheaper to fill some meds at one pharmacy and others at different pharmacies. Just select “Multiple Pharmacies” from the Options Menu at the top of the Medicine Chest screen (NOTE: you need to be logged in to see/use this enhanced price-check).

How to Find Lowest Overall Price for Multiple Prescriptions

  • Step 1. Login (or create a free account) and save all your prescriptions to “My Medicine Chest”.
  • Step 2. After logging in, from the Dashboard screen/tab, look for the “My Medicine Chest” summary-box and click “Manage My Medications”
    • NOTE: there are actually several ways to get to your list of saved meds, so it’s also OK to click the “View All” link on the Dashboard. You can also use the main navigation menu and select “Medicine Chest”.
  • Step 3. Towards the top of the screen, click on “Pricing Options” to change from ‘Single Pharmacy’ to ‘Multiple Pharmacies’ (see the screenshot below).
